Roleplaying
is a great way to lend atmosphere to the game and give another dimension
to your enjoyment. If you haven't roleplayed before then its not as hard
as it might seem! Simply imagine what your character might talk like and
avoid modern slang and contempary topics. To summerise...
-
Add things like "Sir" and "Lady" to your names.
Say things like "Greetings!" instead of "Hi!".
- Don't
say slang like AFK or BRB. Use words in full and use your imagination
to find other ways of saying things. For example you might say you need
a brief nap if you need to go AFK, or call your alts your bother, sister,
cousin etc.
- Don't
talk about things like the TV, computer, pop music, etc and things of
the modern world.
- Have
a look at the table below for some suggestions.

Note: Of course there
are many more ways of expressing yourself, but the rule is try to write
what you want to say in a proper way, correctly and completely spelled.
Also, it is a good idea to mention the name of whoever you are talking
to when saying hello or goodbye. "Hello Sir Marius" is much
more expressive than a simple "Hello".
While in groups, especially in combat it may sometimes
be hard to write "area of effect" instead of "aoe",
"resurrect" instead of "rezz" and "mesmerize"
instead of "mezz". We don't want our role-playing to affect
the performance of the group, so in tight situations it's ok to use more
"in-game" expressions.
We
ask that everyone roleplays over the guild chat. If you need to say things
your character wouldn't, then send private messages with the OOC (Out
Of Character) stuff in [square brackets]. This denotes you are not talking
as your character.
We
also try to roleplay as much as possible whilst around the realm and grouped
with other people. This encourages likeminded people to join us and gives
us the opportunity share our roleplaying with others. |
